Make Your Summer Productive…and Have a Great Time
It is finally summer! It’s time for shorts, sun, and a great time. Before you go on and on about not having to do anything all summer, you should consider making your summer a little bit productive. Here’s a few ways how to do it…without ruining your entire summer:
Get a summer job. It never hurt any college student to make a little extra cash. By getting a temporary summer job, not only are you making money, but you’re also building your resume and networking for jobs in the future.
Get an internship in your major. An internship is a great way to determine if your major is actually something you want to stick with. Internships are another great networking strategy to help you get into your career field of choice.
Take a summer class…in the classroom OR online. Let’s face it–class in the summer does NOT sound fun. However, an online class can be on your own schedule and can be an easy way to get a class in so you don’t have to take it later. A class in the summer can also help you keep your focus for the start of classes in the fall.
Help someone in need. This can be done through volunteering in your community, or even in your own family. Volunteering gives an individual self-worth and provides new opportunities (and looks good on resumes and applications).
Everyone wants to relax and have fun in the summer. Just make sure you take some time to be productive; just because school is out doesn’t mean your brain should take a vacation! Have a great summer…productively.
